The Sohma's will never be normal, despite how they might seem like any traditional clan with many members, tied by formalities and order. At the heart, they are a cursed family even if their bloodline had existed before the first Banquet. So the most outré of them is the core, even their fairy tales turned grotesque and fay.

She is an interloper among outsiders, a passing traveler who refuses to be more then a ghost. She is a visitor with no home, and few ties she doesn't fight. She is a vivid picture left in other's minds, despite how hard she pushes away, maybe even because of her protests.

He is socially unconscious, seemingly blind to the little rules of human interaction. He is painfully honest, action taken when fools would fear to tread. He seems incapable of embarrassment, straight forward and unruffled with even his mistakes.

The thought of being rescued makes her angry and sick, and he is too idiotic and blunt to ever be Charming for long. But he has been her prince, a strength there when needed even if not wanted. And they do have a love story, even a curse and a wicked witch to add to the fable. Only the story is off,the curse broken and the witch "reformed" in the end, but still insane. Touch by other females shuddered at, and a look in the witch's eye at others close to her boys even if it seems no one but her notices. She does not play the forgiving saint of the female lead, and refuses to forget as the rest of them stupidly do. He and she are not really changed at all, he is still tactless and she still is brittle to most. Just they happen to be free now, and in theory enjoying that happy ever after.

Which seems to skip over the part where she finds out she's pregnant a few years later and panics, convinced she can't be a mother. And he finds out and calmly asks her to move in and what she thinks would be good girls names as if they aren't too young or too fucked up and like it isn't insane for them to even try to have this child.

And it is insane, and they'll have fights and hurt each other. And history will repeat itself, and they'll never learn. But they will have their fairy tale as fractured as it is, and they'll have their family. And it will be worth it.
